By the Seashore

I sit

In the drip of fog

The haze of day

The wail of gull

The brightness of soul

Replenished

Rainy Summer Day

Wet driveway

Pitter-patter on the trees

Thirsty grass sips

And sips some more

Wet world

Wet summer day

Strawberries grow ripe

Climb the vine

To the sun

Cotton Candy.  Stick to the fingers.  Each bite stickier and sticker.  Each bite-careful, keep my fingers dry.  Cotton candy.

First I Taste the Zest

First I taste the zest of the Navel rind
As I nibble my finger nail
And the fresh peeled orange
Once sweet, now sweeter

I chew my taffy
Up and down
To the rhythm I step
Upon the boardwalk
Stuck to my fingers
Stuck to my tongue
Forty flavors
Mixed in my bag
Out pops cinnamon
Creek-creek I step
And gobble it up
